Coco Comes Back

Sophie was so excited when I arrived at school to pick her up on Friday because. "Coco's coming to our place mummy, Coco's coming to our place"

Yep

This is the weekend that Coco came back to visit the Reay Family.

We had lots of fun even though we didn't go anywhere particularly special this time.

No Cheerios in the cupboard, but Coco did enjoy some healthy porridge with yummy honey.

Then it was off to one our favourite stores. Bunnings Warehouse. As usual the moment we walked in all the Bunnings girls flocked towards us with a "Hi Sophie, Hello sweetheart, We missed you Sophie we haven't seen you for at least 3 days." It goes on and on.

If you haven't guessed yet we love Bunnings and they love Sophie, and were all in love with Coco the camel.

After picking up shelving set number 3 and some other bits and bobs we headed over to the Mega Market to the bulk butcher. Sophie had to stop for another picture.

And then she spotted this one.

We headed home for lunch and Coco got to try a chicken and cheese toastie for lunch. Yum yum yum.

We finally got around to putting the mini trampoline together that mum and dad gave us, it's only been stashed away for a year or so.

Well Soph must have fallen over, tipped it over and bounced right off that thing a hundred times and every time she jumped up looking like a stunned mullet and exclaimed "I'm OK I'm OK" and scrambled back on and kept on jumping.

Well that's all folks

cheers

Mini Master Cheff

What a great day we have had today.

Why?

Because today was Jemima's Birthday, and Jemima had a Master Chef Party

Sophie and I have been looking forward to seeing just what a Master Chef Birthday Party was ever since we received the invitation a couple of weeks ago.

Well It was quite simple to do as far as the party went and soooooooo.... much fun.

On arrival we were handed a little paper bag with Sophie's name on it.

I took this picture towards the end of the party. As you can see the apron did it's job keeping all that coloured icing off of their clothing.

Inside was a little chef's apron with Sophie's initial on it (Master Chef symbol style), a paper chef's hat and a small piece of timber dowel (rolling pin) along with some lollies and nick nacks as there party bag.

Everyone put on their apron and hat and made their way over to the tables where they were given a ball of pizza dough to roll out.

They then popped their rolled out dough onto a paper plate which already had their name on it and went to the next table which had lots of toppings all layed out in bowls for the kids to put on their pizza's.

Next they took them to the kitchen where Auntie took them off the kids and started putting them on trays to cook in the oven.

Meanwhile the kids played pass the parcel and pin the cherry on the cupcake.

Before you knew it their little pizza's were ready and they all sat down at the tables for their lunch.

After lunch they ran around wild giggling, screeching and generally having a great time with balloons flying everywhere.

Then everyone was asked to make their way back over to the big tables where their were towers of cupcakes, bowls of different coloured icing and bowls of lollies and decorations.

The kids then decorated 3 cupcakes each, 1 to eat as the birthday cake and 2 to take home.

Their were so many cupcakes left over the mothers were asked to go ahead and decorate and take a couple home too. We were all happy to oblige and had lots of fun doing so.

whilst everyone sat down and ate their cupcakes we all watched on as Jemima opened her presents.

Everyone thanked the birthday girl and her family for a wonderful day and headed home.

We made it home just before a big storm hit, so I'm typing quickly, trying to get this post up before we loose power.

Well that's all folks

Cheers

Horray It's Time For The Kids To Go Back To School

We were very excited in our house Tuesday morning. School holidays had flown by, my plan for the 1st week was to get some painting done.

Sophie and I ended up playing board games, doing find a words, making fabric flower hair clips, sewing a few experimental clothes, watching movies etc.

We made use of every opportunity when the rain would stop and the sun would break through the grey clouds. Strait out the door we dashed, running around the backyard playing soccer, swinging on the swings and monkey bars and giggling ourselves silly.

We also planted some new lettuce seeds and rainbow spinach seedlings.

Clown Day

Today at Sophies school they held a CLOWN DAY to raise funds for red nose day.
Each child was encouraged to dress as a clown and buy a red nose to wear.

Gee my girl loves to pose for the camera and she made such a cute and funny little clown.

Well that's all folks

It's A Swinging Thingy

This is the third layout in the mini series beginning with Find Your Joy. I love everything vintage as you may well know and have had this sheet of Sassafras Lass paper called 'winsome' for some time. It is a collage of vintage image cards, flowers and boarders and once I bravely started cutting the images apart found it really easy to create this fun layout.

This layout is made directly onto the back of the previous layout, as the paper is sturdy double sided cardstock I didn't see the point in wasting it. The sticker of the girl on the swing is from October Afternoon's Fly A Kite collection and the chipboard alphabets are Kaisercraft. Everything else was cut from the Sassafras Winsome paper.

To give the vintage cards a raised embossed look I turned them face down onto a piece of high density foam and then rubbed the sections I wanted raised with the ball on the end of my craft knife. I know there are proper tools for this but I don't have any and just made do with what I had. These photo's don't do the embossed cards Justice. No matter how many angles I tried to photograph these from you just could not see the embossing properly.

I just love this little elephant. I used my craft knife to cut around the end of his trunk so that I could tuck the little playing card underneath.

Well that's all folks.

Cheers

You Are A Treasure and We Addore You

This is a follow on layout from my Find Your Joy layout. Its packed full of Joyful floral whimsy and fun. I hope you like it as much as I loved creating it.

I used the October Afternoon "Thrift Shop - Near Mint" paper for the background as it's just oozing with colourful vintage fun. I toped that off with a piece of October Afternoon "Fly a Kite - Icecream" paper which I just trimed around the circular edges to give a more bubbly fun look. I gathered some green lace to run along the bottom and ran another piece of the velvet ribbon (used in Find Your Joy L/O) accross the top and added a cute bubbly sticker which reads "Blossom".

I matted the photos on ruby cardstock and added rubbons and a Tim Holtz ticket for the date. I also added some button flowers from Sassafrass Lass and some cute 3D garden theme stickers I picked up from a bargain shop. I just love this picture of Sophie peering out from behind the flowers. So Sweet.

Sophie asks me everytime we walk past the azalea bushes out the front "Why don't these flowers smell like roses?" and every time I respond "Because they are not roses they are azaleas". She often stops to smell them just in case they change she tells me.

I just love these layered Sassafrass Lass button flowers. So bright and cheery with a few little blingy ones thrown in for good measure brighten up this otherwise dull corner of the page.

Well that's all folks

Cheers.

Find Your Joy

This Layout is simple yet sure to lift your spirits and that is exactly what my little miss did for me this day. I was very tired and had been stressed about the deteriorating health of my grandmother. Sophie asked if we could water the flowers and take some pictures of them.

She had me smiling in no time especially when she told me " when your sad mummy you can always find your joy and be happy again. I think its keeped somewhere in your tummy and it makes you feel gooderah"

This is the story that inspired the following layout.

Looking at this layout reminded me I never got to add journalling. I'll have to get onto that.

I cut around the overlapping edge of the butterflies and tucked the photo underneath then held the raised butterfly wings with some dimensional tape to add interest. For the title I inked and heat embossed the bracket in fire engine red. I used the back of the packaging from some of my Sassafrass Lass button flowers for a journalling block and the alphabet stickers are October afternoon, as are the 1 inch circles with the vintage flowers I used to dot all over the page. I used some velvet ribbon to frame up the picture to coincide with Sophie's velvet coat. On the top left hand corner is a pretty floral embellishment with a crystal heart dangle which I have had in my stash forever and a day but knew I would use eventually.

Well what can I say. What a little cutie. Love you to bits.

Well that's all folks

Cheers.

Fairy Princess

This layout is all about a day we spent down in Sydney visiting Aunty Vonnie, when Soph created her own fairy princess outfit.

I've had these photos for quite some time and been meaning to put them together on a layout. I ended up throwing them in with a stash of goodies I was taking on my visit to Queanbeyan on the Country Link train.

It was quite a funny story  of how this layout came about, you see Whilst we were on our 4 hour train trip I decided to pull my stash out of the backpack and see what I could come up with. I had only been scrapping for 10 minutes or so and when I looked up I was surrounded by a group of ladies.

One lady quickly said "oh don't stop were all very intrigued in what your doing and would love to keep watching if that's OK" I told them that it was fine and kept working on the layout. I spent most of the trip answering questions of "how did you do that? can you show us again?" or seeing these women cringe as I cut up these photos so that I only had Soph on the layout and not all the bulky backgrounds which were irrelevant to the story I wanted to tell.

With only 20 minutes to spare before we were due to get off the train I finished the layout and our carriage irrupted with applause and comments of "oh isn't she clever", "I never would of been brave enough to do that" etc etc.

Because of all the noise of my onlookers the security guard came wondering down to see what all the fuss was about. The ladies apologised for the noise and quickly moved back to their seats. I felt really good teaching a few new skills to some lovely women and it sure did make that 4 hour trip fly by.

For this layout I wanted the images to look like she was playing in a magical fairy land so I suspended some chipboard frames backed with opaque velum above the page with golden cord to suspend them from the top of the page to make them appear to be hanging from nowhere.

I put the first photo in the oval frame so it appeared as if she was sitting on a swing.

The second photo was placed between the frame and the velum to give the appearance that she was in the magic mirror.

The last photo showed the wings she made and was of her back so I adhered her with the big chipboard Caterpillar behind so it looked as if she was standing there having a conversation and reading the journaling card beyond that.

I would have liked to added a title but felt it would overcrowd the whole page and decided the keep it simple approach was best.

well that's all folks

Cheers

1st Day of School Layouts

I picked up some Kaisercraft class of 87 papers and embellishments from my local scrapbook shop and had so much fun creating layouts of Sophie's first day of school.

I'm just loving anything vintage at the moment, so this range was perfect.

I love this little vintage school girl playing hopscotch. It fitted perfectly, because the first time we went to check out the school Sophie asked me "Why did they paint these numbers on the path in the playground? I had such fun teaching her how to play hopscotch.

I matted one of the banner triangles and attached a toothpick to make a flag.

The morning of the 1st day of school Soph must have asked me 12 dozen times "is it time yet?" She was so keen to get going to big school.

I loved this poem and just had to include it in the layout.

By cutting some of the squares out with my craft knife and raising them up with dimensional tape it broke up some of the hardness of this paper whilst adding interest.

This is one of those layouts which you like but just feel its missing something!

hmm... comments. suggestions?

well that's all folks

cheers

My Little Fairy

When I saw this paper for the first time I knew strait away I wanted to create a whimsical layout.
This is what I came up with.

This picture brings about images of Alice In Wonderland.

Well that's all folks

Big Smiles

Another Pretty layout of Sophie in her cupcake dress, Jazzed up with some hot pink bling.

Sweet Gorgeous Love Absolutely Adorable You

I seem to always spending my spare time creating, scrapbooking, painting and paper crafting for friends and family.

So I decided it was high time I started some serious scrapbooking catch up for myself.

So to start with I created this soft, pretty, feminine layout of Soph in that cute cupcake dress I made her.
Stay tuned I'll be listing lots more layouts.

You will have to excuse the shadows created whilst photographing my layouts. I have seen that some Youtubers use a light box. I'll be investigating this idea and true to my nature I'll create my own DIY light box.

With a few of these pastel papers layered up, some gathered organza ribbon over hot pink silk ribbon, a couple of rub ons and some blingy butterflies lifted from my mums stash whilst on holiday in Queanbeyan this simple layout turned out fab.

well that's all folks
a simple layout but I love it

Cheers
